How to root Micromax A120 Color and install CWM recovery:

Step 1: Install drivers in your PC and Enable USB Debugging on your Phone. Go to Settings >>> Developer options >>> USB debugging check it ( If your phone have Android 4.2 or upper version then see how to enable Developer options here is guide of this Click here). After then switch off your phone.

Step 2: Download SuperSU file and copy in your phone memory card. Now Download CWM recovery and scatter file of your phone and extract these file in a folder where you want. Extract and open the SP Tool. Sptool.exe Run as Administrator.

Step 3: You will see an SP tool window, now click on the scatter-Loading option in the SP tool. Then you will get the new tab of SP Tool which you ask the location of the scatter file on your PC. Now select the “Android_scatter_emmc.txt” file. See in this image.

Step 4: Now connect your switch off phone with PC via USB cable (Make sure your phone is switched off).

Step 5: SP Tool detect your phone and process will start. If Sptool is not recognize/detect your phone then install vcom driver read this post it will help you click here (Driver already in phone flash drive if you don’t have these drivers then install it)

Step 6: Now start installing recovery in your phone by flashing.

Note: – Don’t interrupt this process as it can potentially brick your device. Make sure no power interruption takes place.

Step 7: After the process complete, a green ring will appear.

Step 8: Disconnect your phone.

Step 9: Do not start your phone. Press and hold vol. up & down + power button then select “recovery mode” (If your touch not work then use volume up and down key for menu up and down and Power button as a enter button)

Step 10. Click on install button/ choose install and select SuperSU.zip file from your save location on your SD card and install this file. Now reboot your phone.

  2. I have a micromax A120 canvas colors. There is some problem with the software as it always displays ” unfortunately the process Android.process.acore has stopped. I tried to root my phone using framaroot but I couldn’t. Pl tell what should I do?

      Framaroot didn’t working on KitKat OS, So root your phone by this method. if your unfortunately the process Android.process.acore has stopped will continue then flash your stock Rom.

      When you connect your switch off phone to PC via USB cable then SP tool detect your phone and flashing process start. If your phone is not detect by SP tool then install vcom driver on your PC and reconnect your Phone.

    but when i connect my swithed off phone to my pc it says “Error Not enough memory 1024mb”or something like this via sp tools

      it is not sptool error, you can use SP-Tool v5.1408.00 but before it install Vcom driver on your PC.

      We have to easy method :
      1. Open system setting >> Storage >> Preferred install location >> choose External SD card

      2. Open system setting >> Apps >> Download tab >> open app one by one >> tap on MOve to external SD card

    I rooted my Micromax A120 few months back and I recently tried to install Android Dark L, which gets installed but after rebooting the phone, it remains stuck on initial screen showing DARK L only.

    Later on, I tried installing MIUI6 rom, but unfortunately the result was same.

    It seems like the phone is in no OS state.

    Can you please guide me, what next should I follow, to fix the phone?

  13. I have Micromax Canvas A120 Colours.
    The OS version is Android Kitkat 4.4.2. But i dont know whether the version is Stock version or FOTA version.
    How to know that the version is Stock or FOTA ?
    Because the recovery img file differs for the different versions.

  14. it will show internal sd card 0 mb….thn when i trying to install super su thn shows unable to mount internal sd card…..though i have scatterd earlier a new ebr to repartition my app storage and internal sd card….now i have 2.07 gb app storege…is this the resone why super su fsiled to install

    2. Use TWRP recovery and flash it via SPTool then don't start your phone. First of all go to recovery mode by press and hold power and volume up & down key in same time for few second then press volume up key and install SU zip file

As the above mentions i did what u said and also at the same time by watching video.manage to install cwm but after installing super su from cwm when i reboot my phone the super su app shows but says no binary iw install.At last check by root checker basic app but it says ur device is not rooted. Why what i did everything correctly. WTF frustrating. :( Any other alternative solution to root because frameroot didnt work also.

  39. i have successfully done all the steps correctly and its worked just as the steps mentioned. even i have installed the update-superuser from the recovery also. it showed that update installed successfully. but when i rebooted the phone, there was no super user installed and also the phone is still unrooted as i checked via root checker.
    so what do i need to do? please suggest me something useful.

    3. after doing the same process with the updated super user that u provided, i cannot see any super user icon in the phone menu. yet in recovery mood the dialogue came that the installation from zip is successfully done.
      i dont know what the fuck is happened to this phone!! it is almost like like winning a mission that cant be possible to win!

      ignoring this if you install su it installs but will not display in the phone or is not installed
